IWONA NOWAKOWSKA Assistant Professor

I am a PhD in Psychology and Assistant Professor at Maria Grzegorzewska University. I am a graduate of Psychology at the University of Warsaw (with distinction, 2019), and Maria Grzegorzewska University Doctoral School (2022). I am also a postgraduate Data Science in Business student at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw.

As a researcher, I am interested in how personality traits shape volunteer engagement and/or activism in young adults, also under adverse circumstances (e.g., in unsafe environments, during social crises). Particularly, I am interested in how personal attitudes towards the present versus the future are involved in becoming and remaining a volunteer/an activist or showing prosocial tendencies. My other projects focus primarily on „prosocial personality”, charitable behaviors, time perspectives, coping strategies, and their correlates/consequences. I have various experiences in research (solo and in teams) and practical projects (including clinical psychology), as well as in volunteering for NGOs.
