JULIA ZBRÓG PhD Student

I’m currently pursuing my PhD at Maria Grzegorzewska University, where my research brings together social and clinical psychology in ways I find fascinating. My academic journey has taken me through some unexpected territories — from studying how people evaluate information critically, to exploring the impacts of wartime violence on families, to examining how COVID-19 has shaped children’s emotional well-being. What really gets me interested is trying to understand human connections (or its absence) better. My dissertation originally grew from my master’s work on hostile attributions and aggressive behavior, particularly how social exclusion plays into this relationship. Lately, I’ve been captivated by a new question: how can experiences of social exclusion both enhance and inhibit creativity, and what psychological mechanisms underlie these opposing effects?

Sometimes I find myself diving into new research approaches just for the sheer joy of learning them, regardless of the specific topic!

When I’m not buried in academic papers, I currently work as a psychologist supporting people with intellectual disabilities—work that reminds me why I got into psychology in the first place.
